Deep Tissue Massage

Affects the sublayer of musculature and fascia i.e., deep tissue/deep muscle. This technique helps with chronic muscular pain and the treatment of injuries. Generally, it is integrated with other massage techniques such as Swedish massage. Cooperation is often needed from the client in the form of breathwork, visualization and trust in the therapist. Not recommended for the first time massage recipient nor for the faint of heart.

Neuromuscular Therapy (Trigger Point Therapy)

NMT is used to locate and release pain; eliminating trigger points which can cause referred pain and reduced range of motion. It allows for flexibility to the tissues; rebuilding the strength of an injured area, restoring postural alignment, proper biomechanics and assisting venous and lymphatic flow. This technique relies heavily on client-therapist interaction.

Hot Stone Therapy

The most elegant way to pamper yourself. Basalt stones are heated in water to approximately 120º-140º. The therapist holds larger stones in the palm of her hand using the heat and shape of the stone to melt away knots, tension, and stress. Smaller stones may be placed on specific points along your spine, between your toes, or in your hands. Your therapist might also tap the stones directly on tight muscles as a type of vibration to release knots and tension. Please inform your therapist if the stones are too warm, or the pressure is too much.

“Hot Spots”

We'll use Basalt stones that have been heated in water on areas that require extra attention. The stones are an instant moist heat source that will allow the therapist to be very specific with the application of heat. Tight muscles will melt with this amazingly soothing technique. Your therapist will be vigilant regarding the temperature used, but if you feel the stones are too warm, let your therapist know and adjustments will be made. Stones are lightly lubricated to glide on the skin. “Hot Spots” are used in conjunction with deep tissue massage.

“What's the difference between Hot Stone Massage and “Hot Spots”?

Hot stone massage is a general approach; inducing a very deep state of relaxation. “Hot Spots” are used therapeutically; focusing directly on isolation problem areas.
